Not a huge Chryler/Dodge/Plymouth fan but wifey had a 2000 Plymouth neon Lx after her college days and we traded it in in 2007 for a 2007 Honda Accord Ex and she loves the Accord and swears never to own a Chryler product again, after 100,000-120,000 valve gasket, head gasket going on it. know for oil pan leaks/seals and expensive repairs but she only mostly had regular maintenance.

I owned a 1998 Plymouth Neon Espresso with the so called 2.0 4 cylinder high output engine!
The car was terrible on gas!! If i got 500km on a tank of gas, that was a good tank! It didn't help that it had a 3 speed automatic!!!
Who makes a 3 speed, at least a 4 speed automatic should of been in this car, which they eventually did have!
I wouldn't say that i'm sorry that i don't own it anymore! But for what the car was, it was just a means of transportation and that is pretty much it!!

Have a 1998 and its a great little car. Only MAJOR thing it has ever needed after 9 years was a new rad, a batterie every 4 years and 2 mufflers.
It starts at -40'F without being plugged in and gets mid 30 MPG on the highway.

I have a 1998 Plymouth Neon. I got it last year October. The first few months were rough, and we were always taking it in to be repaired. Now there are still some things to be done, but it's all stuff that I can do. My little car has been pretty good to me, but it did suck up quite a bit the first while, repairs aren't cheap

I have a Plymouth Neon, a 1997. I havent had problems with it really just the usual of the wear and tear on the vehicle. Driving to school 4 days a week and then work for the other 3. I would love to get a Toyota Corolla when I am done with school, but for now I will take my Neon. The one thing though is that it sucks driving during the winter time.

I know what you're talking about. I bought mine in 1998 or 1999 and I have regretted buying it ever since. The first year I had it, I had to replace the O2 senser on it and it has never passed inspection without my having to replace something. This year alone, the car has been in the shop four different times. The gas tank had to be replaced, the crank shaft, front rotors, pads and hoses needed to be replaced, the rear right strut, last year it was the water pump and just recently I had to have the fuel pump replaced. My own opinion is Chrysler should recall all Neons regardless of the year, re-engineer the whole car.
